I can't get into the library search functions, either Illinois Tech or CARLI. I'm an emeritus professor. What do I need?
Answer
All retired faculty are welcome to use most of our electronic databases while on campus. Our campus IPs allow for seamless database access.
There are a few resources, such as SciFinder, that the vendors will not allow us to offer on-campus access. For off-campus access, active emeritus faculty doing work with a department (as defined by the faculty handbook), may be granted library borrowing privileges and off-campus database access for a defined time period. In order to apply for these privileges, the Dean, Director, or Department Chair supplies our circulation department with the information necessary to get them into our various systems.
The restriction to active emeritus faculty doing work with a department is due to contractual language with our many database vendors. If you have any further questions about access, please feel free to us know.
